Hi Scotty, thanks to you, I bought a new 2022 Corolla LE (ICE).

My question is: I have 1450 miles on it already, and someone told me I should’ve got an oil change between five and 1000 because of tiny little metal fragments suspended.

Is it true that has to be done that quickly and what should I do now?

What does your owner’s manual recommend?

Probably 5000 miles but it didn’t come with one, it’s a used car. I could check online, I suppose, but manufacturers also say crap like “lifetime” trans fluid and Scotty tells you to ignore that. So that’s why I asked you. Your answer seems condescending

It wasn't condescending. It was a simple 6-word question and you're looking for ways to be offended. No manufacturer has ever said engine oil is "lifetime". Yes you can easily find your owner's manual on the Toyota website, or a web search.

Engine oil? I never said engine oil for lifetime. I was referring to what manufactures say about lifetime transmission fluid and not having to change it, but Scotty says it BS.. Don’t respond to my messages anymore.

That was necessary with cars like a 1949 Hudson. The engines in today's cars are made of more advanced materials that are machined and finished to much finer tolerances.

Unless your owner's manual says it needs to be done sooner, 5000 miles would be fine.

Follow the owner's manual

Watch from minute 5:00; he's a Toyota master diagnostics technician and he suggests if you plan on keeping the car for a long time then a first oil change at 1k miles is worth it. I've always done this too and given I change the oil myself it costs me around $20 which is nothing and makes it definitely worth the extra peace of mind.

I will do it around 1000 miles. You can change it now.

No, I won’t because manufacturers also say crap like “lifetime” trans fluid and Scotty tells you to ignore that. So that’s why I asked you. I’ll just get it now because other moderators took the time to give me a detailed answer.

Huh?

"brand new" even

Had 1300 miles so like new and it was new to me.

This is just harassment at this point. Hope Scotty reads this nonsense

How about if we settle in the middle, and change the oil of this "new used car" around 2500-3000 miles?

It was like new and had 1300 miles on it. Plus, It was new to me. Your comment was completely unnecessary and is condescending.
