Im thinking about purchasing the new Civic Type R for a daily and planning to keep until 200K+ milage. I know this is a killer vehicle in performance and usability as Scotty and many other YT review videos has pointed out. But my question is how are the engine gonna hold up in the long run? At the end of the day it is still a 4-cylinder, turbocharged with direct fuel inject car. I know it's a relatively new vehicle but how do we think about this situation? Im looking for a reliable/fun/manual car, don't need it to go too, too fast.
Thx
There is no reason at this time to believe they wont hold up as good or better than any other car.
If you do not need to go too fast, then choose a regular civic with manual transmission to save lots of money.
The Type R civics are screaming cars and no one knows how they hold up over time but considering the fact that they are turbo charged and GDI, I don't recommend it over something normal for ling term daily driving.
The new Type R Civics have proven to be reliable at least in the short to middle run of their lifespan. Remember, there are still a lot of the old Type R's still rolling around out there.
Honda builds a solid vehicle. I would say go for it.
