Hey Scotty
I have a 2018 Chevy Cruze Hatchback with 72k miles I bought certified pre owned last year after my car OTHER car was totaled. I was using it to commute for work and travel around the country for work during COVID and don’t have any issues *YET* but now I’m 10min from my job and want to sell/ trade it in and get a truck…
I don’t have many uses for a truck but I like to go out to the mountains to for camping, towing my motorcycle etc. and I want something reliable that I could drive for the next 10 years without any issue.
The new Ford Maverick with an EcoBoost really interests me with its price point but people have been telling me to get something bigger like a Silverado 2500WT, F150, Tacoma or even a Colorado….
… If you had to get a new truck that would last what would you get and why?

Clarification: How many miles do you intend to put on it over those 10 years? Also, can it be used? (If used, how far back would you be willing to go?)
I would stay away from a full size in your situation.
Avoid the Ford Mav completely, buy the ranger if you want to go the Ford route. If you get the ranger install an oil catch can, change oil every 4000 mi even with full synthetic, spark plug change every 60k mi and transmission fluid drain and fill every 60k mi.
Toyota Tacoma, I don’t need to explain because you’re going to have about a dozen people telling you Tacoma.
Chev Colorado w/ duramax diesel.
for what you want to use a truck for those 3 will serve you well.
Also, add Nissan Frontier to your list (get used, up to and including 2019 MY; 2020 and up went to different engine/transmission and not as true and tried) - will be cheaper than the Tacoma’s.

Don't buy the Ford Maverick. Avoid first generation vehicles. The 20k price tag is too good to be good. I'm certain it won't be built with high quality materials and by high quality workers. I don't think it will be body on frame, either.
Besides the Fusion which they have discontinued despite it's a reliable car, other Ford vehicles have issues. They make the best selling truck / vehicle in the US, the F-150, and it is having rust issues. I drove my 2015 Fusion almost 7 years before I traded in for a 2021 Camry and it had no rust spot any where, even on the Brake disks.
I wouldn't buy ANY new truck. I would find a 2005 - 2006 Chevy or Ford, before they put all the ridiculous, electronic crap in their trucks.
