Nissan Almera N16, Engine continues to stutter when applying full throttle in higher gears.

Hey Scotty,

I'm a little lost...

Recently bought a secondhand Nissan Almera N16, 2002, (at a car dealership) 1.8 114hp Twincam 16V, manual transmission, currently 148000km so that's about 92000 miles.

Every time i put my feet to the floor (stomp on the gas) in 4th or 5th gear the car stutters and hesitates , i can even see my gear stick shaking whenever this happens.

It does this for a few seconds and then starts accelerating normally...

Car always starts perfectly and runs fine until i apply quick full throttle.

I always fill her up with v-power RON 98 no ethanol because of here age.

Recently the car started to give the error code P0171 bank 1 running lean....

Code comes on for a few hundred miles and miraculously disappears again. Does this over and over again....

Its been to my local garage, everything is in order, engine timing checked, recently got new oil and air filters, new sparkplugs the whole deal, my dealer tried to switch the ignition coils everything.

They discovered a (kinda) lose air hose and made sure it was fitted correctly again.

I cleaned the MAF, nothing helps...

Could it be an ignition problem, or is it the engine that's just not in order?

Thanks for your help!

Greetings from the Netherlands,

Gijs

Fuel system problem.  Check the fuel pump pressure and a new fuel filter.  Clean the injectors.

Thanks Doc, especially for the quick response! Since the fuel filter is also recently changed i will focus on getting the injectors cleaned and the fuel pump checked!
