Hey Scotty,
I have a Nissan Altima 2007 2.5S with 212K miles and I noticed on my last highway trip that the car averaged a highway mpg around 29 mpg (I usually get 32-33). I ran a diagnostic test using an ThinkCar Scan Tool (THINKOBD100) and no fault codes. Oil doesn’t need to be replaced until another 1,000 miles. What do you think it could be? My uncle said the hoses to the cars engine looked worn/frayed and I should replace them. All Parts are original manufacturer. What are your thoughts? Where could things go wrong?
Thank you for making learning about cars fun and entertaining!!! Never change! {pear}
Many things could affect the mpg: Outside temperature, tire pressure, driving conditions, ...
Are you sure all parameters were the same in both trips?
I wouldn’t even bother about 3 mpg.
Just be glad that your car is still running strong at that mileage, with all original parts.
