Scotty, big fan. Like most who watch your channel, I really appreciate the information and content you put out for the everyday car guy. In fact, best part about the pandemic was discovering your channel and binge watching the last 4 months!
Have a chance to buy a 2008 Nissan Frontier. 188k miles for $5,000 with a standard transmission. It's from a private seller (which I prefer) but curious if you would go that old given your documented opinions on Nissan? Recently sold my 2005 Tacoma on a whim and am missing that old truck. It had 265k miles and the only time it was in the shop was for a frame replacement, which Toyota did at no charge. I don't love the newer Taco's and people are asking A LOT of money for used ones.
Thanks and keep entertaining!
Tim
It can be a good truck. Have a mechanic check it out before you buy it.
Be sure to check for signs of SMOD. If there are none and the radiator is original to the truck, I would swap it out immediately. Also, check the rear differential breather to be sure it’s not corroded shut. If it is, don’t buy it. If it isn’t, replace it immediately. Also, just FYI, I bought my son a one-owner 2010 Xterra SE (fully loaded, leather, etc.) with 110k miles back in late October for $7,500. Same dealer who sold it new and serviced it regularly was selling again because the owner traded in on a newer one (always a good sign). I kinda feel like $5,000 at that mileage is a bit high, but could be wrong.
Thanks everyone!
