Hey Scotty!
I have a 2011 Ford Focus with a 5-speed. Mice have chewed the wires from my oxygen sensors and my check engine light is on. HOWEVER, I'm getting great gas mileage...just drove from Hillsville VA to Scranton PA on one tank, about 500 miles...I have to let it warm up when it's cold, but is it hurting the motor? Thanks and PS please show what you catch out of that creek behind you...lol..
THanks for everything you do!!
Glen from Hillsville VA {black}
It won’t damage the engine but if it runs lean or rich, you may damage the cat.
I would get the wiring fixed. Scotty also has a video of keeping rodents away from your car.
I would get it fixed immediately. The signals from the 02 sensors tell the computer what the air/fuel ratio is at any given load and throttle position so it can adjust it to ideal at about 30 times per second. If their is no 02 input, you could be running lean and risk burning a piston.
Did they chew right through, or just nibble on the insulation? (it's the plastic they like. It tastes sweet to them)
