So last month sunbelt states experienced an arctic event of freezing cold ice storm. I started a 2012 terrain after the storm passed the vehicle was like a block of ice and all was ok for the first few minutes then the engine went to low power mode and then killed all together. it would not turn on again after this. after a few attempts to start it again, it began to make a high pitched noise that can be described as no compression..
after putting it through a compression test on all cylinders cylinder 4 is about 45psi, the other 3 dont get over 15psi.
any suggestions on how to proceed are appreciated.
Well it's a guess but if you did not have antifreeze strong enough in the cooling system it would have Frozen when it froze it would have blown the head gasket and broken the engine I would assume that's your problem with low compression like that
sounds logical. looks like we are replacing an engine. good old junkyard gamble. thank you!
