Hi Scotty, Ok so back in 2019 we bought a new CX-5 Touring and at first it was of course highly rated and very reliable according to consumer reports, but the first problem we notice after our excitement had worn off was how much road noise the car made, and I do mean when you're not on completely newly paved road the road noise can make it hard to have a conversation at normal voice tone. So back in 2021 the first problem was that the car would not recognize the key unless you had it in your open hand, when we took it in the dealer said it was the battery, so they replaced the battery. The second problem much more serious the transmission started jerking and making chipping noise. We took it back to the dealer and he said we needed a new transmission so after 3 weeks we got our car back and the transmission is working just fine. However now on the center info display where the map, music and other info is displayed has started to randomly change back and forth to whatever it wants it will jump from navigation to phone to music and while it in music it will change the station and run thru all the other options all on its own and it will do that randomly when it wants. I have said all of that just to ask you when I go to trade this car in next year what SUV of the same size as the CX-5 would you recommend because we want to get rid of this car before the extended warranty runs out and we get stuck with some other bigger problem. So, if you have any insight on what would be the best, quiet and very reliable SUV for 2023 about the same size as the CX-5 please let me know. Thank you and have a great day. Vic
RAV4 or CRV if you want to size up slightly. Corolla Cross or HRV if you want to size down slightly.
I'm going to add that if you want a gasoline only car go with the Rav4 over the cr-v because the gasoline only cr-v is turbocharged. Now Honda has been making turbocharged for a very long time so they know how to make it, but if you want to keep the car 10 or more years a naturally aspired engine is the best option for longevity.
Consumer Reports is not a reliable source of information on anything.
