How do I know if software update was installed

Can you use an OBD2 Scanner to see if a dealership actually installed a software update (like for a recall?) I'm trying to protect my elderly mother, she has a KIA and dealership claims they did the software update for the antitheft but something is fishy. Long story but I just need to know if there is a way I can verify maybe a software version to confirm they actually did do it? I think they just put the stickers on it because the time they spent doesn't match the time required from the KIA letter. Thank you Scotty!

Well, a really good scan tool shows the software version that's in the car. If it was a major change it would show something

Yes a high end diagnostic tool can read firmware revisions.

But there are easier ways.

the dealership can pull up a

record of it.

Recalls are even easier. Manufacturers are required by law to have records.

Most have a web page where you just enter your VIN and it tells you if anything is outstanding.

That doesn't really mean much. But it's still a good idea to check anyway.
