Hey Scotty, Most vehicles today have Oil index of some sort in the dash. My 2021 Colorado is due for a change if I go every 5000 miles, but the Oil Life index  shows 57%. Which one should I follow? Thanks from Atlanta.

IMO, it's best to change it based off of mileage or time. Oil life monitoring systems, in many cases, have failed and haven't even informed the driver they need an oil change. They also might push the oil change to more than what you would normally be comfortable with. I wouldn't trust them myself.

Mine works quite well.

I would change the oil every 5,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.

Use synthetic oil, change it every 5k miles/1 year whichever comes first.
