How to check engine Oil condition of a very modern car

Good morning,  I am considering a 2018 Mini Cooper S, and any used car I have purchased,  I pull the dipstick to check oil condition,  look for millinery, or an unusual smell in the oil.  It scares me a bit to not be able to check this, and it will be more and more common in the future.   What is your recommendation on this???  Thanks,  and love the channel Scotty.

Buy a car which does have an engine oil dipstick.

Unless as a weekend toy, stay away from that Mini..

It's bad enough that most transmissions on modern cars have no dipstick, but now the engines as well? That is completely insane. What the heck are they thinking?

Thankfully there’s still plenty of cars that have engine oil dipsticks.  I know the German ones don’t have those and rely on computers.  Anyhow, I would recommend you stick to the cars that still have engine oil dipsticks.

No dipstick - no sale.

it’s not fool proof, but one thing you have available to you is to look and smell at the oil cap, the oil cap threads, and what you can see through the hole when you open up the oil cap. Granted you don’t see the oil itself, but you can see signs of neglect. And make sure the oil level is up, sometimes cars have a computer on board that you can toggle through to check the oil level.

you look for women's hats in the oil? {black}:idontknow:

It took ALL of me to not respond to that..! But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, when buying used cars..
