Can you recommend a motor oil extractor and if so, where can it be purchased?
what does it do?
Maybe it's a gadget to extract oil from the engine through the dipstick tube instead of all that mucking about with the oil drain plug under the car. Not recommended since it won't remove crap that tends to collect in the bottom of the pan.
I didn't think of that. I have a passing interest in firearms and when I think of an extractor, I almost always think of a firearm, lol. I would agree, siphoning oil out from the top is a bad thing for more than one reason.

I'm not aware of a "motor oil extractor". Oil pumps are supposed to keep running as long as the engine itself is running. When you turn the engine off, the oil drains down to the pan via gravity. It's not like an AR-15 where you use part of the momentum given to the round to actuate the internal parts, including a casing extractor.
I can understand using a syringe and putting some tubing down your dipstick if you accidentally overfill your engine..
I started using a holt industries automatic few months ago for oil changes mostly on bmw and Mercedes. I think it works well. You can buy a manual but I feel the automatic works alot better and is more convenient. You need air compressor for the automatic. Manual has to be pumped. It takes a little practice but once you get the hang of it you get everything out as if your removed drain plug. I don't know that much about the different brands and which ones are better then the others. I can only tell you about the products I've used or ones that friends have that we talked about.. The holt seems good and haven't had any issues and worked well for me. OEM tools and ewk manual version which a friend has and said both are good for the money but can be a little tricky and Pittsburgh automatic 6.25 gallon automatic I used it 2 times when on lend and got the job done with no hiccups . Wish I could provide more information .
