  • Hi Sir. I have a 1990 Chevy G20 van. 5.7. Oil pressure gauge at zero. Replace the oil sensor on back of block. Guage still now working. I did remove new sensor. And cranked engine and oil shot out the sensor hole. So I'm assuming I have pressure. Reinstalled new sensor. Still at zero. Is it bad guage Or What just bought van a few weeks ago has 194 thousand miles. Engine runs good. Don't hear and pistons knocking or valves clacking or any other noices thanks for your imput

It could be the instrument cluster.

The older 5.7's had 2 oil pressure "senders". One on the back of the block and the other by the oil filter.

The one on the back of the block was for the "low oil" fuel pump shutdown

and the one by the oil filter was for the gauge.

Check if your 5.7 has that setup.
