Oil leak in my son’s 2007 Pontiac G6, could I try AT-205 re-seal in it? What would you suggest.
Oil leak in my son’s 2007 Pontiac G6
Where is it leaking from?
could I try AT-205 re-seal in it?
You could try it. The stuff might or might not work depending on what's leaking and your luck. It will not repair a physically damaged seal. If AT-205 does work it would most likely be temporary but it could last a while. There have been reports of both success and failure with that product.
What would you suggest.
The best and most long-lasting repair is of course to replace the leaking seal. However that is probably not cost effective for a 17-year-old G6.
Thank you, mechanic says its the oil filter housing seal/ gasket.
@chook - For something like that I'd just go ahead and replace the gasket rather than messing around with a snake-oil additive.
Could you tell me your opinion on how much something like that should cost? I live in Grand Ledge, MI. Thank you!
@ckhook - I have absolutely no idea. Your best bet would be to get estimates from local independent mechanics.
Not likely. Just replace the gasket.
Will A/T 205 stop an oil filter housing leak?
