Oil Light

I have a 2010 Mercury Mariner Premier V6 4x4 with 213k miles. The oil light pops on while idling but immediately turns off if I rev the engine in neutral or resume driving. I figured the pressure was low from low oil but I changed the oil with the same oil light results. It takes 6qts of 5w20 and I use Castrol GTX High Mileage synthetic blend. What's likely causing the light?

Either you really have low oil pressure (engine wearing out), or the oil pressure sending unit is bad. Verify the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if it's OK install a new sending unit.
