[Solved] Oil Overfill or Acceptable

I changed the oil on my Tundra recently and checked the oil after the change. On the dip i filled until about the max line on the dipstick. After driving a few days I checked my oil level to ensure there wasnt a leak. To my surprise Ive checked twice on a level surface and I have about 3-5mm (maybe half a quart) above the max. Should I be concerned or not? My oil pressure gauge is pretty much the same as it always is. My truck requires almost 8 quarts (owners manual).

Probably won't harm anything. If it bothers you, drain some out and then fill back.

Thank you!

I would drain some out. You don't want the oil getting aerated. It's easy enough to do.

this guy's oil got so whipped up that the engine started knocking and it shut off from low oil

I used a syringe/pump thing I had bought from harbor freight to pump about enough out to bring the level back to in between the dots.

👍 nice
those are useful tools

Probably fine. Just keep an eye on it that it isn’t rising, which would suggest oil dilution by gasoline.
