Which Oil Type should I use in my Accord in Nigeria?

The recommended engine oil for my Honda Accord 2011 V6 is 0W-20. Mileage is at 160k. I live in Nigeria with very hot climate and I tried 5W-20. I noticed the maintenance minder now has a longer oil change interval. I do more city driving and oil life gets to 15% in about 5months compared to when I used 0W-20 and oil lasted only 3months. Could I be ruining my engine?

Living in Nigeria I would say no. The first number is kist what the oil thickness is when cold. Below 45-50 degrees.

5 20 is similar to 0 20 you should be fine. dont worry about maintenance minder change oil every 5000 miles / 8000 km

Use the weight oil shown in your owner's manual based on the temperature you drive in most of the time.  I would never go past 5000 miles without changing the oil, filter and PCV valve.
