I currently have a 2010 dodge challenger 3.5L, I planning on selling it and buying a 2010 ford taurus with only 50k miles. Is it a good switch? What should I look out for when buying it?
Avoid the Ford Taurus especially with the 3.5L NA Duratec (or Cyclone) V6 and the 3.5L Ecoboost V6. They both had the water pump located behind the timing chain cover and the water pump was driven by a timing chain, so if the water pump leaked then you could get coolant and oil to mix and worst case it could take out the whole engine. It was a poor design decision by Ford. Even if you caught a leaking water pump in time, you’d still be dealing with a partial engine removal just to change the water pump which would easily run in the thousands of dollars.
See below: also applies to the Ecoboost version

Thanks man, read about the water pump thing but did not know it was that bad. Just want a big vehicle like the Challenger but with 4 seats, looking at ford since its cheaper and easier to fix and get parts fort. Have been looking at the sport track also 2007 to 2010.
If you want a big 4 door sedan, look for Toyota Avalon.
How many miles are on the Challenger?
I'd keep the Challenger for the styling. The Taurus was never a great car and it's also discontinued.
The challenger has 103k miles
I would start thinking about trading....but still not for a Taurus if it were me.
A ford fusion of the same year range would be a better choice.
You can find them cheaper than toyotas, even with lower mileage.
If you dont mind the price, go for an avalon or camry as others have said.
