Can I Order A Vehicle Directly From Toyota?

Does Toyota allow buyers to build and buy a vehicle directly from them instead of going through a dealership? I want a Tundra with certain specs, but I don’t wanna pay overpriced stickers at dealerships. Plus, the dealerships I’ve visited either didn’t have a Tundra or had a few that didn’t meet my needs. How does this process work? I’m going to finance btw.

Well I know that in the united States, you can only buy from a dealership. Some law they passed decades ago.

Tesla manages to get around it by some loophole I think.

I don't believe so.  I think they have had some programs where you can pick up your vehicle at the factory (like the Tundra factory in San Antonio), but the sale goes through the local dealer.  As I understand, Toyota's factory-dealer allocation system is pretty much non-negotiable; you can't even do a factory order through a dealer.

Impossible. There is no way, TMK, to order directly from Toyota. There are (stupid) laws which prevent that from happening. Which forces us to us dealerships.

Tesla found a loophole, and is exploiting that loophole. It would be hard for Toyota and other car makes to exploit that loophole, because it would make their dealers upset, and probably give us Eve more (stupid) laws.

Toyota just like other Japanese car manufacturers works based on allocation system which means whatever they make and whatever they allocate to which dealership they decide to. Only thing you can do is go to as many dealerships as possible and check their incoming allocation and if they had what you want negotiate with them and get a signed sales order and wait for the truck to be built and arrive.

If they don't have one in their incoming allocation you tell them what you want and they'll let you know of the allocation closest to your desired specifications and it's up to you if you want it or want to wait more. There is no other option unfortunately.
