I have a 2009 Corolla 5spd manual 100k miles. Ever since I bought the car last year it feels like the accelerator pedal is way too sensitive. I like to try and take off at around 1500 rpm or so. But I have noticed that to accomplish this I need to be ever so careful and the pressure applied to the pedal is so little that I can barely register pedal movement any more and the engine revs to around 3k. Which makes smooth takeoffs pretty difficult and I worry about burning up the clutch. Is this a problem with the pedal sensor or maybe the throttle body? Is there an obd scanner tool that would let me look at the applied pressure on the pedal to see if the readings make sense?
I just got in touch with a Toyota dealer. I guess my VIN all up to date on recalls. I'll just try getting a new pedal sensor from Toyota.
You probably need to replace the pedal sensor. Wasn't there a massive Toyota scandal about cars just taking off on their own?
