Passenger Airbag Off Light

Scotty! 2015 Toyota Tacoma V6 Double Cab/Long Bed SR5, about 115,000 miles. When there is nobody in the passenger seat, the Airbag OFF light usually illuminates. Just noticed that the OFF light no longer illuminates, but start the car all the lights work, so I know the bulb isn't dead. When I sit in the passenger seat with the truck running the Airbag 'ON' light illuminates and proceeds to turn off when I exit the seat, but the 'OFF' light doesn't come on. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the passenger airbag sensor and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, still no luck. Called the dealership to see if they knew anything about this... they wanted me to come in so they could look at it... I asked what they charge and they quoted $143/hour, but wouldn't say how long it might take (basically, I don't know if they've heard of the problem and don't want to tell me and charge me through the nose, or if they actually don't know). I don't know any good mechanics in the area, but I just thought I'd check with you first to see if this is something you've seen.

Do you have an OBD2 scan tool to check for any stored DTC?

My scan tool (not a very fancy one, mind you) didn't read any codes. Checked with autozone, and they don't read codes unless the check engine light is on (it is not on).

Go by Advance Auto and they check for codes for free.
