PCM reset

Topic starter

Just watched a Scotty video resetting PCM. (2007 G6 3.5). It showed using 10w 1ohm resistor between battery cables to drain capacitors in PCM/ECM. I did find a 10w 1.2 ohm resistor. OK to use?

No check engine lite on. When driving normally, RPM s on tach seem to shift up and down on their own.

You don't need to buy a resistor. Disconnect the battery.. turn on the headlights, dome lights, hold your brake lights on, etc.. this will drain any the residual power from the vehicle.

You could have a faulty gauge though.

Why do you need to clear PCM?

he said his tach is wonky

So why reset the PCM can that fix it?
