Hello! I'm looking at a 04 Toyota Corolla S with 146k miles automatic for $3700, and a 04 Camry with 120k miles automatic for $4500 both from a dealer. I also am looking at a 05 Honda accord ex with 127k miles automatic for $3800 from a private seller. Which would you perfer?

I would be between the Corolla and Camry, I would check them out and get whichever passes a pre-purchase inspection. The Accord had transmission problems back then.

Thanks

Always compare the model years with our sticky below under the Car Buying Guide, and therefore it narrows it down to the Corolla vs. Camry.  At that point, it’s personal preference - test drive both and have an independent,  honest mechanic with a fancy scan tool like Scotty’s thoroughly check it out before you buy.  Also, it’s nice to know the service/maintenance history;  if one has an excellent history over the other, you may just consider that vehicle.

From dealer I would expect them to have paperwork on work done to the cars yes? Is there a way to talk down prices or you just don't care? Personal preference for me is camry.

Make sure you actually like the drive though. And as long as you don't feel anything weird about the test drive then you are okay.

Thanks
