Pilot Alignment Problem

Topic starter

Daughter’s ‘18 Honda Pilot needed tires, rocker arm fixed, front brakes, and 4-wheel alignment. Mr Tire techs couldn’t align front left wheel; camber is off 1.25; they didn’t know why it couldn’t be aligned. Daughter and son in law say it’s a continuing problem, ie Honda dealer couldn’t align that wheel either. Can you tell me what might be preventing proper alignment of that particular wheel ? Thank you.

The Pilot doesn't have a body-on-frame design, it's a unibody design and doesn't have a separate frame. Hitting a bad pothole can bend a strut and also damage other suspension parts. Severe hits can also also bend the unibody frame. If the clowns at the tire shop don't know this then you shouldn't take your car there for anything mechanical. A bent strut can easily throw off the castor and ANY decent alignment tech should know this.

damage from an accident or woopsie with a curb

The only things that can cause that are somebody hit a masive pothole, the car was involved in an accident and caused the unibody to bend, or somebody hit a curb going at a decent speed, as @hixster and @imperator say.

Personally, my money is on an accident scenario. People don't tend to hit curbs on the driver's side, unless someone parked their car facing the wrong way all the time. That would basically mean driving on the wrong side of the road. Normally, the passenger side has all of the issues with curbs.
