Hello, I bought a new car from a dealership. It is a 2020 mitsubishi outlander sport, it have 16k miles run and since 5k miles it started to have a very loud piston knock. The manufacturers book says that it must run with 87octane and thats what im using. Shells gasoline, in the dealership they said that I must switch from regular 87 octane gasoline to premium that is 91, it can run with that but before I do so, can someone please help or give me an advice on how can I get rid of that hard annoying piston knock. Thanks!

Can you make a YouTube video of the knocking & post the link here?

Yes, I'll try to make a video.

Yes do make a video but just out of curiosity if you put higher test gas and it goes away then the vehicle wasn't made correctly because all modern cars can run on any kind of gasoline without knocking it would certainly have some type of problem be at a software or a hardware problem

Hope you're doing well Sr. Scotty. I'll make a video and share the link, The piston knock hasn't go away yet, I am using premium gasoline 91oct. Yes it have been more softer the knocking after switching from regular to premium but it's still there. I'm looking to completely get rid of it. What do you recommend me to do Sr. Scotty?

Is it knocking or pinging?  Poor quality fuel or advanced ignition timing will cause pinging but knocking is a different story.  Does this vehicle have a warranty of any kind on it?

I'm pretty sure is knocking, she started doing it like in 5k miles. The dealership recommended to change from regular gasoline 87oct to premium 91oct so I did and it have calm down the piston knock but not so much. It's still there sadly.
