Pontiac Vibe 2005- My antenna cable is bad. How do you test. How do you replace?

I purchased this car from a dealer back in 2010 and the radio has always had poor reception when I would leave the metro area. I've unplugged the antenna connection and replaced with a inexpensive retractable antenna that I wedged inside the dash. The reception is better but certainly not great. Any ideas?

Did it have a windshield antenna? If so, drill a hole in the top of the fender and mount a regular antenna.

No, it's mounted on the roof  by rear hatch door

If it is a short antenna, you would likely get better reception with a long one mounted on the fender. You could also try an upgraded receiver.

Scotty says the antenna has to be outside at 8:04

If it had one of those slanted antennas _/_ they are the worst. They basically cut reception in half. Get a normal vertical whip antenna.
