Hi, my 2014 vespa (yamaha neos) has (43,000 km), the top speed is 50km (31ml) but the top speed on the speedometer is 80km (49.7097 mil), how can i increase the speed to original .
well if it ever went that fast and it was designed to go that fast you probably need the carburetor either replaced or taking apart and cleaned out
Hi, I happen to be the President of the Phoenix Scooter Club here in Arizona. I've owned a ton of scooters, Honda, Vespa, Kymco, etc and we have hundreds of members. I"m guessing it's a 50cc scooter? In any case... that is just what the companies do. I.E. here in the US, a typical 50 cc scooter will have a top indicated speed of 60mph but the top speed even the fastest stock scooter is going to get is going to be more like 45mph going down hill with the wind at your back ;-). And my 300 GTS Vespa, for example, has a top marking on the speedo as 90mph as I recall. My very top speed is more like 80mph. And on all scooters, all sizes and all brands "ALL" I've found every one of them to show the speeds to be "proud" of the real number. In example, when my Vespa shows 80 mph, I"m doing more like 72mph actual.
50cc scooters are just not very fast but ways to increase speed (and like scotty says, you can increase speed but can wear on the engine:
- Get new exhaust
- If you have a tall windscreen, remove it
- Change the rollers. If you are in Europe, contact SIP scooters in Germany in the US Scooter West / Vespa motorsports in San Diego California. Contact them and ask them. Most often they will suggest lighter rollers.
- For me... it was to loose weight LOL!
Good Luck!
