Just discovered the Power Mode on my 2017 Toyota Highlander. My car's transmission seems to run more smoothly, or is it my imagination? Downfall is that I need to turn Power Mode on each time I turn on my car. Is there any negative side effects to always driving with Power Mode on? Thank you! PS I live in Illinois.
It might slightly reduce your car’s longevity, but I don’t think it’s anything that major on a Highlander.
on some cars, like ones with CVTs and DCTs it will cause a lot more wear, and on some hybrids it completely changes the way the car works (sports mode on the Kia Niro turns it from mostly a range extended EV to [most the time the petrol engine just charges the battery] into a mostly a Power-split Hybrid [both the battery electric motor and the petrol engine are connected to the wheels to have more power] )
so yeah, on a Highlander, with a conventional automatic, timely fluid changes (especially in the transmission that has to work harder to accept all of the additional torque) IMO it shouldn’t affect it’s longevity by too much.
(As I see it, from my understanding of things - could be wrong)
No issues. The only thing is your gas mileage may suffer a tick.
