- I have a 2013 Toyota Avalon XLE V6 80k automatic. We recently bought this and it stared having an issue. The car would randomly not start The power would turn on it just wouldn’t start. We’d go somewhere car would start fine and then we’d come out and it wouldn’t start, it was infrequent. One time we went to start it the power steering light came on. The mechanic who is a Toyota “specialist” said he couldn’t find anything wrong other then the battery volts were a little off. He suggested replacing the battery so we did. It was fine and everything seemed good till the other day (about 3 weeks after we had the battery replaced). I went to leave backed it up and it felt like the power steering was hard (car was still running). I backed up went to go forward and the car had died and had to get a jump after that. We recently bought this car in June from a smaller used car dealer. We love the car just don’t want a $20,000 car with undiagnosable issues. Any help would be incredible thanks so much.

Don't you just love car dealers that sell you junk? It sounds like the power steering pump bearings are going out and loading down the engine. Take the belt off and spin the PS pulley to check for smooth operation. It sounds like a fairly easy (read that as inexpensive) fix.
