Hi Scotty
Nice to meet you i love your channel i am Tim from Sydney Australia.
I bought a Used Toyota Camry 2015 2.5LTR 4 Cyl, 3 yrs ago at a Toyota dealership. Since owning the Vehicle i have noticed it had a power steering problem which i got somewhat resolved but not totally resolved. the car has a mind of its own lol, well the problem i noticed when i first bought it, when i started the car and its cold the steering will be nice and light, after your drive it around and once its warm and when u turn off your car and turn it on again the Steering would be Super Heavy, I have addressed this issue to Toyota Dealership as the car was under warranty at the time. they have since bought some kind of computer power steering module that was imported from Japan, they have installed the new part and reset the computers, Since they did that the steering has improved much better but in saying that it still has the same issues the steering is not as heavy as it was but it would still play up when cold its really light when warm steering would get heavier again but not too heavy its always been inconsistent and i just want it to be super light all the time, Also some days the car would have great power and some days she would drive like a lemon it has a mind of its own, i do have it regularly serviced. Please help what can i do to fix this power steering problem and the power issue with the engine as i want it to be constantly powerful. I want to get it fixed without costing me a fortune, can i still get it fixed for free at Toyota. When i bought the Car it only traveled 60,000Kms and now it only has 79,000kms Please Help
Steering recall might be your problem. If they "fixed" it one time and that is still a problem, return to let them "fix" it again. A bad part fixed under recall could have been fixed with another bad part. Do not let dealership off the hook.
Sometimes if your bad part is close to recalled parts the factory will allow replacement under the recall. Ask if the replaced part was part of the steering recall. Ask if they could have fixed your steering and that fix gone bad as well. Whatever the answer is it is their problem and a safety problem that should make the car undrivable.
@jimz Thankyou i will ask them again about it but this issue was Never under Toyota Recall, apparently they installed this new computer module because its electric steering but she still plays up my sister's 2012 Camry never has this problem its constantly super light. I just dont want to pay for something again that was fixed under warranty back then, The dealership near me are nice people and they gave me lots of freebies too hehe, i will see what they say
Factories have serial numbers they publish for recalls. Those numbers have other numbers close to them. If your number is 1 and they say the number is 2 then they might fix your one even if it is not said to have the problem. Just in case.
Good luck with it.
I had a problem with kia steering but not the exact kia they allowed a recall for. They still fixed my car because it was close to the one published. Dealer willingness to help goes a long way.
Trying to determine what may happen can stop you from learning what will happen by your own inaction and nothing done by dealers or factory. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
@jimz They never said to me about any recalls about this apparently my car was a special case i have to do a further investigating other than that the car has been super reliable never had other problems, thankyou so much for your input much appreciated 🙂
You do need to keep the dealership informed so they know this is a ongoing problem. otherwise they will refuse to help.
A super reliable car that may crash and kill you is not super reliable. Careful when rolling and god luck.
Almost forgot. When dealing with dealerships be sure to get a copy of any paperwork done. It seems your word can disappear if you do not have your own copy. Every written paper is your evidence more than it is for their instruction. Always cover your own ass.
@jimz Thankyou so much for your advice and will do i will ask them it should all be in their computer system with my Vehicle Registration
Sometimes if no work is performed the computer is kept ignorant. Keep copies of driveway writeup. Then there is no doubt.
Good Luck.
@jimz ok i will ask them about the paperwork on that job they replaced on that module. if they cant provide me with that i will be upset and think nothing was done but a computer reset on the car. I need to know if this module was actually replaced anyway i need them to investigate and fix it like you said it needs to be driveable
