2009- Honda- Civic- 120,000 miles- Automatic.
Went to Midas for a routine oil change and was told that my power steering pump has a "medium" leak and will need to replaced. I was quoted $446 for the replacement part and $1,000 for the labor.
My question is, is this a serious problem that needs to be addressed ASAP or at all? Also, does the quoted price seem reasonable?
Thanks in advance for any advice 🙂

I personally won't take their diagnosis right out of the gate without taking it to an independent mechanic I trust for a second opinion before moving forward with the repair.
Thank you!
Midas is one of the worst gyp joints around. Have a good independent mechanic confirm the diagnosis and quote you a realistic price for replacement if you cannot do the work yourself. Never set foot in Midas again.
Thank you!
Yes, it needs to be addressed. The prices you have been quoted are beyond stupid. The power steering pump for your vehicle costs $129.99 at AutoZone.
Thank you!
