Of course, assuming you're talking about a used vehicle. Why wouldn't you want to know its condition before purchase?

Not everything is reported to Carfax. It could also have been wrecked or flooded and patched back together in someone's back yard. (My own car would show no maintenance done over the last 170,000 miles or so because I do it all myself.)
You need a good mechanic to determine the vehicle's condition before purchase.
