Hello, so I recently bought an 06 Rav4 with 120k miles, been taking care of it for a year now, I changed the transmission fluid and filter. everything seemed normal since then but recently ive been getting whinning noises when reaching the end of each gear also when first starting it up in the morning and putting it into drive theres a delay of about 10 seconds before it engages but doesnt happen again until the next morning, should I change the fluid and filter and see how it goes or is there something else I can do?
How many miles you got on the car?
in kilometers 200183, so around 124387 miles
Could be the power steering pump or alternator.

Did you flush or just drain and fill? And it’s not throwing any codes right?
just drained and filled, changed filter too, did this about 6 months ago, started doing the whining noise a few weeks after that, but what worries me most is that delay in the first shift that only ocurrs when the vehicle has been sitting for a longer period of time, something tells me maybe theres soething wrong with the oil pump or that the filter clogged up because of the new fluid mixing with dirt and particles, At this point im just worried that if i dont detect and fix the problem now, I couldnt even trade or sell the vehicle later if it gets worse, im a student so transmission rebuilds I cant afford atm
and its not throwing any codes at least not for the moment
@tuna271 I see, yeah some debris could’ve dislodged and clogged something. I don’t know if that’s the case though. Did you use fluid to the exact specs your RAV calls for or did you use that universal transmission fluid? You might need to find a good transmission shop in your area and let them know what’s going on and see if they can give you a diagnosis.
