Hi Scotty

Im new to the channel and could do with some advice.

I’m a relatively new driver so my knowledge is somewhat limited, and I’m part of a band that travels fairly regularly in the uk, and I’m looking at getting a manual 07 to 09 dodge nitro.

The ones I’ve seen have around 110,000miles on the clock and are going for anywhere between £2500 to £5000.

So I guess I’m just wondering what your thoughts are on them.

what are the pros and cons to owning one?

The common problems with them?

Are the automatic versions better then the manual in anyway or visa versa?

Any thoughts/opinions on them is much appreciated!

Thanks

Jon

No. They're pretty bad.

The engine is bellow mediocre, the manual is from a Mercedes truck - so notchy and just not fun.

Definitely not recommended, after all it's a 14-16 year old Chrysler with Mercedes parts.

The automatics weren't bad but the ones with a manual transmission are a different story. Before buying have a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection before you buy one.

I’ll definitely get a mechanic to take a look first, as much as I want to learn about this stuff, I’d have no idea what to look for that’s for sure haha!
Out of interest what made the manuals bad against the atomic transmission? (Sorry if that’s a dumb question, completely new to all this so my knowledge is absolutely 0 haha)

In the U.S. those are terrible vehicles, mostly cons with little pros. Don't know about the UK spec models.

Uk ones come with a 2.8L engine, as far as the other specs goes here is what I’ve managed to find:
0-60: 11.5 seconds
Top speed: 112mph
Cylinders: 4
Valves: 16
Engine power: 176bhp
Engine torque: 302.00lbs/ft
Full tank capacity: 70L
Boot space (seats up) 397 litres
Boot space (seats down) 1994 litres

In all honesty where I’m new to all this, this is all just gobbledygook to me 😆

I would pass.
