{black}:idontknow: i recently came across your YouTube channel and spent about two hours continuously watching videos. I was truly amazed of the knowledge and detailed information that 99% of dealerships & mechanics definitely don’t want us customers knowing, so I really appreciate that.
I recently purchased a 2007 Ford Escape XLT 4x4 3.2L 4 cylinder small suv with 130k miles for $2990. My drive home was all interstate which was roughly 40 miles and it was i95 so about 70-75-mph. I allowed family to put things in my name at a early age not thinking about my credit and so finding a vehicle that didn’t require $3k-+ down just wasn’t possible. I put $1400 down and financed me the remaining amount for 12months because I essentially wanted to because I’m trying to help my credit but also can’t afford to pay $400-$500 / month for 4-6 years either. The vehicle has no warranty because it honestly makes no sense to put $1500-$2000 warranty on a vehicle that it’s price is the same amount. So the vehicle is “ As Is “. I brought a friend with to test drive who used to be a mechanic but is now my helper and I’m a licensed electrician. We pulled over and started checking the vehicle, under hood, under the vehicle etc. despite the age and body work and interior is pretty good shape. But is there anything you recommend me doing within the first week. I’m not very knowledgeable of mechanical issues with vehicles and ultimately rely and at the mercy of the car salesman. I did do my research of the dealership prior to purchase and had a review rate of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Thanks for everything.
I would make sure the oil has been changed on it, check the tires, check the air filter, check the fuel filter.....give it all a good look and if you have a good independent mechanic, have them check it out as well.
Find a good mechanic and keep things maintained, look at your owners manual for service intervals.
