Hi scotty,
recently my 2005 ford explorer started making a grinding noise every time i turn right (noise coming from left rear tire) and after about 10 minutes of driving, that same area starts to smoke. Its also almost impossible to accelerate while turning right at all.
any ideas or suggestions as to what i can do to figure out the exact cause?
thank you!
Well pray it's just the brakes being worn out but often it's also the axle bearing being worn too back there
step 1: stop driving it asap before you kill someone.
2: raise the vehicle, remove the wheel, and look at it.
chances are you'll see the problem right away if there's grinding and smoke happening.
Like Scotty said, most likely the brakes are stuck, but the bearing could be toast too.
If you don't know what you're looking at, then post a photo here or tow it to a mechanic.
