Hey Scotty I’m looking to buy a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 dually to tow my fifth wheel trailer. Guy says he rebuilt the “entire engine” from top to bottom. Says the rebuilt engine has 5000 miles on it. Should I or anyone ever buy vehicle with a rebuilt engine especially one used for hard work like a dually? Thanks!
You should ask for a paperwork to see who did the job. They should be professional to rebuild the engine. Call them up and see what shape the engine was. If the seller can not give you any details of who did the job, forget that car.
Yes, IF it was a factory reman with a transferrable warranty to the next owner.
Yes, IF it was rebuilt by a Cummins authorized shop with receipts and warranty is available.
NO NO NO otherwise. There is a lot of steps to properly rebuild any engine. Most people are going to skip steps and expense. Receipts are easily faked.
