Recent valve adjustment at a shop, car is now hesitating/sputtering at cold start

I had recently taken my 2016 Accord 2.4 Sport to a shop for a valve adjustment. I’m noticing that my car is now slightly hesitating/sputtering at cold start, until warm.

I’ve read somewhere that assuming the valve adjustment was done correctly, I can try to adjust the idle screw but that doesn’t seem right. I understand that when a valve is over tightened then it never completely close, which causes hesitation/sputtering at cold start and will eventually cause further damage.

I was going to call the shop that did the adjustment but not sure what to do if they claim that they did it correctly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If they did it correctly the car would be running right. If they refuse tell them that you'll have it fixed at a shop that can do it correctly & your lawyer will send them the bill.

When a shop with no integrity screws up you usually have to resort to that.

Thank you for the feedback Russell. I will do just that 👍

Lots of things can go wrong when doing this job.  Coil packs, valve covers and other parts need to be properly replaced after doing a proper valve adjustment.  You need to take it back so they can fix their mistakes.  If they don't follow @russellkelly81 advice, document everything and, if necessary, small claims court.

Thank you Doc
