Hi everyone. I am interested in repainting my aluminum wheels becasue the paint has been peeling off for years now and it really bothers me. My question is, do I have to remove the weights from the wheels if I repaint them? They are the adhesive type. If I don't remove them, can I just paint over them? Thank you.
You never mentioned yr./make/model of vehicle? Are you painting them yourself or having it done by a pro?
You might consider powder-coating them, more durable and won't have to deal with peeling.
what are you going to do when you change your tires, and the weights have to be changed? You'll have unpainted spots. All the painted aluminum wheels I've seen look terrible after a while. I would strip the paint and just rock the raw aluminum look.
