Hello I am wondering if it is possible to replace the engine of a Honda Pilot 2008 for a 2015+- engine with less gas consumption? if possible can you suggest an engine that will give me low gas consumption and long mileages life and that is not to difficult to adapt to the Pilot. Also, is it worth it? I am moving to Costa Rica and I am taking my car with me but the taxes are 100% for vehicules. So I want to fix my Pilot the best I can and try to pay less on taxes. Thank you Scotty
So you are only thinking about replacing the engine for fuel economy? Gas is cheap, engines are not. How many decades will it take to make up the money of the new engine w/ improved fuel economy is my question. And I hope that is your answer.
Never. You will never recover the cost.
@mountainmanjoe
Exactly! Hope that answers it for you bud.
The computer systems in modern cars are so interconnected I doubt that's feasible. It's not like the old carb and ignition points days when you could could do engine swaps relatively easily, dealing strictly with fitment and mechanical issues.
Yeah seems like a lot of money and time spent for a car worth no more than the engine.
