Retirement Convertable

  1. I had an old MGB when I was young and love the top down driving on back roads of Connecticut.
  2. I'm getting ready to retire and would love to have another drop top For fun. I am like you and love getting a good deal.
  3. What car should I buy?
  4. I've been looking at Mazda NC and ND 6 speeds as well as the slightly more affordable FIAT 124 spyder. Any advice which would be fun, reliable and good value? Should I fear the 1.4 multi-air turbo?

If I had the money to spend, I'd get a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado convertable.

The one with the 500 cu. in. engine.

Cruise in style!

Ah, if you ever get enough money, … get the one of the last days of its production, ‘76 model. GM’s Fisher Body Division run out of wired-linkage parts for the doors, so they call us if we have more than they originally ordered? We didn’t, … and we already re-purposed original dies, … so I just cut and bent and threaded and grooved couple of hundred sets by hand and sent them to them!

Anyway, … that was some opulent ride! Still is, … if you find one, …

Skip 124 Spyder, … just get a new soft-top ND. ND is the best Miata yet.

If used one is under consideration, skip porky NC, … look for NB, but from ‘03-‘05 model years.

The Miata is going to be your best bet for trouble free, top down cruising. I'd go that route if you like it.
