I haven't had the chance to drop the pan yet as I want to finish all the exterior work first, but what would you say is a "cut off" date in terms of being reusable or is it more of condition than anything?
I've reused 20+/- year old water neck gaskets but it's much easier to catch that failing immedialty given the steam.
I know it shouldn't be mushy or crunchy but would like to be a bit more sure of it. I couldn't find the reusable version at the parts store, to make matters worse the fel-pro box says 96-00 only for both the 4r100 & eod(? Whatever the rwd only version is) transmissions despite the alldata computer listing that as correct.
I'd probably go ahead and replace the gasket if it's the nearly two-decades-old original.
I like Lubegard reusable gaskets but they're pricey. There are less expensive reusable gaskets and of course conventional pan gaskets are less expensive yet.

That lubeguard one looks perfect, but like you mentioned the price, yikes!
The TPD seems pretty good (no rtv to worry about) & only $8 more than the felpro at az.
Surprisingly (or maybe not so much) the off brand cork was priced exactly the same as the felpro at az. It really is time to give up on those stores!
I walked up there this morning thinking all of the other bits to finish the job would be available so I can have the truck on the road tommorow night vs waiting for shipping but turns out that wasn't the case. Still have to wait on rock auto to ship a replacement dipstick tube as well since the last didn't come with the necessary o-ring & no one has it in the area even with the tube.
@chucktobias What do you think of this one, it's about $10 cheaper than the tpd? Looks like the difference might be the tpd is made in Taiwan, the atp is from China.

In general I would give preference to a part made in Taiwan over one made in mainland China. My experience has been they tend to have a bit better quality control.
Use a new one.
