hello, Scotty love your youtube channel I am from Pakistan and I want to buy a new car recently these car companies like MG motor company, Changan motors and proton cars have started production in Pakistan and the quality of Toyota and honda is getting poor and poorer and are getting least reliable so I am thinking of buying a car from one of these companies what would you suggest? help
Chinese, Chinese & Malaysian junk.
Proton had a history of selling badge engineered Mitsubishis, but now, they are selling badge engineered Geely products, since they got acquired by Geely - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton_Holdings
For the Pakistani market -

All the Toyota & Honda products in Pakistan are global products. Can you please elaborate when you say they are the ‘least reliable’?
least reliable means that the build quality is poor as compared to the previous generation models the engine is less responsive actually i own two corollas one i bought new in 2003 and the other one i bought in 2019 the newer model has a rattling noise from the front grill the engine is not much responsive as thet of my other corolla there is squeaky noise in the infotainment panel the jack stank in the trunk start to loosen up as i try to fit the jack properly moreover the latch for the hood opening in the engine bay got bend twice when i opened the hood similarly paint is peeling off from one or two points of the body though i wax the car regularly and keep it covered. moreover, the headlights are getting a little bit of dust inside from the corners, the Toyota emblem both front and back enamel is peeling off Similarly on higher speeds car seems to like its floating in the air no control at all and sadly i have driven the car only 16000 miles however i had no such issue with my old corolla that why i thought of switching to other car companies
Wow that’s a handful. However, as @yaser mentioned, if you think Toyota is having these issues, the rest will be worse. At the end of the day, it’s your money & it’s your choice what you wish to buy. All the best!
It is your money and you can do whatever you want to with it. But I would say this: Even the worst Toyota product is way more reliable than these cars you mentioned.
Those ecobox Chinese cars have horrendous quality and are basically all knock offs. All companies are lowering quality, including Toyota and Honda, but still is better than other car brands. Have you heard that 90% of all cars on the roads in neighbor Afghanistan are Corolla variants? Its for good reason...
that's because the cars are manufactured in a country where there is a quality control department for that and also in Afghanistan they might don't have any other choice other than Toyota
Selamun Aleykum brother, Ramadan Mubarek.
IMO... All companies are lowering quality. Toyota still tops, sure they do have some quality control issues, but if you buy smart and research problems you should be fine. Also, is there anything you know wrong with Toyotas in Pakistan? I certainly doubt a chinese knock off cheap ecobox will be more reliable than a Toyota. Also, when looking at cars, if the VIN number starts with "J" then it was made in Japan, as you know quality control there is better.
walikum musalam kahier Mubarak obviously brother the cars manufactured in japan are of top quality there is no argument in that yes I have some reservations about these Chinese makers. Actually, in Pakistan, there is no such thing as quality control for car manufactures, and its a franchise of Toyota i think they keep on increasing the prices but no quality at least I they increase the prices no problem but atleast deliver the best quality the previous models had the embarking of made in japan but now its made in Pakistan and ironically they have increased the prices as well I once checked the possibility of importing a brand new car from japan and it had the same price as it is offered here though there were some additional taxes of importing a vehicle and the people have no choice another fact is that the price of top varint of toyota and honda in sedans is nearly eqaul to buying a brand new audi A4 an A5
I heard that was the case in Europe and Asia. Generally taxes and import fees are through the roof. In the US you can't import a model that isn't identical to one sold in the country unless it is 25 years old, I assume Pakistani regulations aren't as strict. I wish you good luck, you should probably consider getting a used Toyota. Quality, reliability, and simplicity was much better back in lets say 2010 2011 than now. (4 speed automatic, not many electronics, basic engines...) Hopefully they were also made in Japan. I hope you won't fall for the price and buy a new Audi as they are absolute money pits. Good luck!
Here is a previous thread about Chinese cars, you might want to see what previous members said about them:

Are there any other decent car manufacturers in Pakistan? Like maybe Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki, Daihatus....?
