Road Trip: Squeaking front right area

1999 Honda Accord, ~275K miles. As I got off the freeway and slowed down, a squeak started consistently sounding from the front right wheel well area. And the sound remains driving City speeds.

When I speed up to freeway speeds, it seems to diminish and go away. (Either that or the tires and engine mask the sound at higher speeds).

Prior to this, for a few months, I heard a quiet intermittent squeak in the same area when going down a driveway, but it wasn’t as consistent, and wasn’t as loud.

Now it is very noticeable.

Also, I pressed down on the front right of the car, and the squeak/creek is very apparent when I push the car down.

I have my suspicions, but I’d like to hear your thought.

1) What could the problem be?

2) How can I test and verify what the exact problem is? (Mind you, I am on a road trip, so I don’t have much with me.)

3) With your projected diagnosis, how safe is it drive the car back 400 miles? IE, is the sound merely a nuisance, or a safety issue? How long can I put off this repair?

1. Prime suspects are wheel bearing, brake rotor/caliper dragging, dust shield

2. Jack up that wheel and manually rotate tire, listen/look at these components

3. If it's a wheel bearing or brake problem, not safe, don't put off repairs - repairs are a lot easier/cheaper/safer to fix than breakdowns.

Try spraying WD40 on the rubber bushings in that area (one at a time) and pray it’s just a worn bushing..
