I own a 2005 Toyota Camry LE, 5-speed automatic. Over the last year both I and my family have noticed that sometimes when coming to a stop or even just after starting up the car idles below 800 rpm, enough to physically be felt shaking the car. When it has done this it provides no idle power letting off the break and also has a tendency to completely shut off. We’ve gotten alternator, battery, and emissions error codes even though the battery and alternator are relatively new (two years old) and have had no issues with emissions beyond getting a hole patched in the muffler in the past.

We’ve taken it to a mechanic we have gone to for many years with past and current vehicles who we find reliable and trustworthy, and they weren’t able to recreate the problem and diagnose it. What could be causing this issue?
