Hey Scotty my 2008 Honda Accord EX does nearly the same exact sound on start of the 2015 Honda Civic featured in your video and I have a rpm of 2000 on startup I suspected that it was because of cold weather but it happens on warm days as well, what should I get fixed first? And how do I keep it Quite also has 193K on the Odometer.

Best Regards

Can you link the video?

but the sound slightly goes away after about 3seconds on a start.

Alright so you have 2 issues -

1. Worn out pulley

2. High idle

The worn out pulley only groans when it’s cold & quitens after its warmed up, in your case. You need to figure out which one it is. Watch Scotty’s video to pinpoint the faulty pulley -

For the high idle, does it eventually settle down to 700-800 rpm after 2 minutes or so? Or does it stay at 2000rpm, no matter what?

Start with the pulley first.
