Hello again,
Just purchase 2021 RAV4 and the dealer pushed the “electronic rust protection module “ for a cost of $1600 CND!! Which I quickly declined.
We live in the rust belt as you mentioned in one of your videos I watched again and your mom didn’t do anything with regards to a protection as you stated the undercarriage is electro plated.
Here in Ontario, Canada (lots of salt & sand used every winter) it a fairly popular to get your vehicle “oil” sprayed as this process is yearly requirement at a cost ~$125.
Sorry for the long winded question but would appreciate your thoughts again on rust protection and what should be used if anything?????
Thank-you - Again.
I know what Scotty said about his mothers car in Buffalo, but I don't own a Toyota. For the last 25 years, I've bounced around with GM and Ford and I've used Krown oil spray on every one of them and I've never seen any sign of rust ever and I only get mine done every second year which means I'm not eligible for warranty but I really don't care. I know this products works. I can tell how good it looks by comparing vehicles of the same year as mine and how much rust they have. Undercoating is cheap. Cars are NOT!! 🙂
Thanks for the feedback- agreed I will use Crown oil spray yearly!!
I would recommend that you oil spray it every year with a product such as Rust Check, Krown, or Fluid Film. I use Rust Check myself.
Just search this website for LPS-3, … I posted a response earlier, but it somehow gets lost. (???)
Search window up in the right corner.

P.S.: Here it is, a snip from my response to others - sans link to the independent testing different corrosion protection coatings, in fresh and salt water:
“ I spray each of my cars only one time - inside and out, cavities especially - spot welded seams - when I acquire each, with LPS-3. I generally mix LPS-3 with 1/3 Varsol / 1/3 engine oil, … spray it with airless spray gun. Than, I leave a car sitting outside for about a week to completely dry it out. Rust never has a chance after that! Trust me, … and I drive in the area where snow, salt and gravel resides on the roads for better of 7 to 8 months of the year! All I do after, is never wash a car in the winter, but only rise it - whenever temperature drifts above freezing sufficiently ( we have our famous Chinooks here in Calgary often enough that a car gets rinsed with clean water, … oh, about 3 to 4 times per cold winter? )”
Anyway, … I lived in Ontario, I know - first hand - how ravaging salt is to all cars! Trust me, …

Hy!
Similar debate was going on there. Perhaps you find it helpful.
Good luck!
