[Solved] Rust protection on a new car

Hello Scotty,

Question from your friends in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.  🙂

My son is purchasing a new 2022 Hyundai Venue.  The dealership is pushing for him to install an ERPS for the car, rather than the traditional spray types that I'm use to.  Do the ERPS actually work and are they worth the $1500 they want to charge?

thank you!

David

Sounds like a different way to prevent rust, but you have to rely on the power unit and the electro couplers operating correctly. Looks like it would work but the parts n pieces are electronics, and we all know electronics do give out eventually. It's likely installed in an out of the way place, so my question would be, how do you know when the electronics stop working? Sorry, I'm old school and would opt for fluid film or some other effective spray on rust proofing.

No.  Why is he buying a Hyundai anyway?  They are terrible vehicles.

Yep, they crank out cheap vehicles using the cheapest materials and the result is they often burst into flames from cracked engines and whatnot. Happened to my buddy right in front of my eyes, his car was completely totaled and it was only a few years old with very low miles on it.

It's a scam. Not a surprise that a stealership would push this kind of garbage. The box has maybe $10 worth of useless components in it. Tell them flat-out NO, you don't want it.
