Scotty I need your help before I say bye to my car for good
Hi Scotty, I hope you're able to help me with my automatic Honda Accord 2007 with 320,000km on it. I bought used from a private seller a few years ago. A year ago while I was stopped in busy traffic, my car randomly started to shake and was not able to drive when pressing the gas pedal. Since then, I replaced the fuel filter and my car ran smooth until recently. My car has started to shake a lot when in drive, with a higher than normal amount of smoke coming from the exhaust, and it sounds almost like a diesel truck. The gas odour is strong as well. When I took it to the mechanic to get it looked at, my mechanic said that my car needs a whole new engine, or I should just scrap the car and get a new one. I need your help scotty, what could be wrong with my car? Do you think it needs a new engine? Or is the issue not the engine at all? Thanks for your help!
Did you have any dash lights on and did you get any codes?
It is really hard to say without having trouble codes to go off of. If you have already had a mechanic tell you the motor is bad, I'd say get a new car. It isn't worth putting a motor into in my opinion.
From what you described, it sounds like it very well may have blown the engine.
